It's Great to Be 8 Michael!

Happy Birthday Mr. Michael, 
I can't believe that you are 8 already. I'm not sure I can accept that both you and I are this old already.

You are growing up to be such a fun kid. You've recently decided that you might not want to be a chemist, but instead would prefer to be an astrophysicist. Yep, I'm not really sure what to do with that. I'm sure you will do exciting things and I can't wait to see how it all turns out!

You got baptized this year. We are proud of your decision and excited to see you grow in the Gospel.

You did a great job with our move from Texas to Georgia. You miss your Texas friends a lot but you've taken it in stride. You've found new friends in every situation we've put you in and I'm so proud of you!

You've gotten more into sports this year. You're turning out to be quite the baseball player, I'm still shocked you can hit that little ball. Your fielding has greatly improved, and you know how to make plays! I'm pretty impressed and I love watching your games. You've improved your basketball skills and had a great season last winter. You keep asking when you can play again, and I don't think November can come fast enough for you! You continued swim this year, and while your team wasn't everything we hoped it would be, you dropped time and improved your technique dramatically.

You've become significantly more responsible this year. You still have moments when you don't realize what you're doing, but your've made a huge effort to be responsible for yourself and it's awesome! It's great to see you go from little kid to big kid.

You have a pre tween attitude. While I find the attitude annoying, I also just want to chuckle. It's pretty funny. I think that I might have great fun with this in the coming years.

You're pretty sure that you're right and the rest of us are... Not. It's funny to me and Dad, but enraging to Zach. You and Zach spend a lot of time fighting these days. Im hoping that is just a temporary thing.

You still love to be read to, and we finished all the Percy Jackson books this year. I think in your perfect world you would be practicing sports while listening to an audiobook. You've yet to meet an audiobook you didn't love and try and carry your disc-man everywhere you go.

Sleep still isn't your thing. I found you awake at 4 am this morning. 4am, yes it is insane. You didn't seem to think this was an issue.

You love math and science and are looking forward to learning your multiplication tables this year.

You love to draw and do not NOT love it when other people try and draw with you. You view "art" as a solitary activity.

You love Pokemon right now. You've read the Pokemon guide at least 5 times, but I catch you flipping through it most days. You've started collecting the cards, and assure me this is something the Georgia kids do.

You're a fish, if there's ever an opportunity to get in a pool you take it. Georgia has cooler weather, but that hasn't stopped your love of swimming.

You finally eat all the foods! There's no more fake throwing up at dinner- you just eat it, or politely move it aside- this is wonderful.

We love you Mr. Michael, you are an excellent oldest child, a great example for your brother and sister, and so fun to hang out with.

Merry Christmas!

We are planning on having a very exciting Christmas at our house this year. We are super excited to announce (to all three people that read this that have already been told) that we are expecting another baby! Yay, the due date is December 22nd, so it is possible that we will actually have a very exciting Christmas, though in all honesty I am hoping for something more around the 16th than 25th.  We had an ultrasound today, and a few things. First off, I think this kid is going to give his/her older brother a run for his money. The ultrasound tech told us this was the most active baby she had ever seen, my response was pretty much, well you should have seen Michael 2 years ago. The baby is healthy, but... crazy. She had such a hard time taking measurements with all the flipping, flailing, and somersaulting. Baby Zach is Here!

Baby Zach is here! Zachary Henry December 16, 2013 8:41am 6lbs 14oz 20.5 inches Sweet guy, he seems so tiny compared to Michael, and so so tiny compared to how big Michael is now. I think he looks a little bit like Michael, especially his mouth. He has less hair and his eyelashes are lighter, but he is still adorable. I know he has the newborn grey eyes for now, but they look lighter than the pictures of Michael at the same age. I am curious to see what he ends up looking like in a few weeks! The three boys. I can't believe we have two boys! We have to have one token labor picture. And as there is only one this is the one that gets posted. More on the labor later, but let's just say I wasn't loving life at this moment, waiting for the doctor to arrive was the longest half hour of my life, but we made it so yay!  So these are out of order, but this is Zach right after he was born. Genius Idea

So I have this idea, I think it is brilliant, and I am really hoping someone reads this and 1. tells me someone has already done it and where I can access it, or 2. someone steals my idea and does it close enough to me that again I can access it. Ok so here is the idea, first let me describe the situation. You are a parent with small children and it is a cold/hot/rainy/snowy/windy day/, someone is contagious/your kid fell asleep in the car/your kids are having a meltdown and taking them out of the car and struggling with the 5 point harness might kill both of you and you need milk from the grocery store. Normally you would try and get it at a better time, send a spouse, live without, etc, but you can't because you need milk (or bread or eggs, pick an essential item), so you have an internal debate... am I going to risk it, am I going to pull them out of the car, run in, find the item, wait in line, and come back and struggle to get everyone back in or are we going to live without...
