Happy 6th Birthday Mr. Michael

Dear Mr. Michael,
How is it that you are 6 already, and at the same time, how is it that you are only 6?

You were thrilled to turn 6! You are the youngest of your good friends, and I'm fairly certain you thought this day was never going to come. You've had a great year. This was the year that your started school. I was worried that you would be too young to keep up with your peers, but once again you proved me wrong! You were more than ready to go to school. You loved the long days, the busy schedule, the competition with your classmates, but most of all you loved the other kids. I think if you could go to school 7 days a week, 365 days a year you would love it. You still struggle with "down time". You want to be entertained all the time, school provided you with the perfect productive outlet. You love to learn and school kept you busy! It was so fun to hear you learn things like the preamble this year.

Your love of science has flourished this year. You have decided that want to be a chemist when you grow up. Your birthday presents reflected your love of science. You got "science t shirts", science books, science coloring books, and a science kit. It is great to see you imagine and soak up as much information as possible.

This has been the year of Harry Potter. It has been so fun to watch you dive into the magical world of Hogwarts. You have loved watching Harry grow and fight Voldermort, and in the process you've had a chance to see that the world isn't always black and white.

You played baseball again this year. You didn't love baseball, but when you tried you were good. I see more baseball in your future, sometime you will love it.

You remain a loyal friend. You have two best friends (Michael Shoe and Tyler). These boys ares of different, but they bring out great qualities in you. You are great at making friends wherever you go. I hope that you are able to make lots of new friends as you switch schools this coming year.

You really want to be in control of everything. You don't like that Zach has opinions and will not always do your bidding. You hate to sleep, you say things like "sleep is boring" and "sleep gets in the way". You are still really intense, there are some things that you REALLY LOVE, and when that happens, you REALLY REALLY love that one thing. We are working on having more than one interest at a time.

You are awesome with Grace. You make sure she is safe and happy. She loves you. She loves that you sing to her, play gently with her, and generally make sure that Zach doesn't kill her. I love watching you be so patient with her, I think having a sister is one of the best things to happen to you!

You still love to read. You don't personally love to read, though you can read well, you love to be read to. I am excited for our reading adventures this next year. We finished Harry Potter (but we will dive back in), you read your first chapter book, and we recently started exploring Bloor's Academy with Charlie Bone.

You love TV, pretty much all TV. You can't decide if you like to watch or act things out more.

You are getting more comfortable with heights and other physical things. You learned to ride without training wheels this year and now you are SUPER fast. You can build lego sets on your own, and love love love to color. You can swim without floaties in the deep end no problem. You're getting better at baseball, and have started to explore golf.

I hope that this year is as great as last year. We love you Buddy!
