Oliver at 1 month

More information on Oliver's first month of life has been recorded on Instagram, but here is a quick run down.

Oliver does not think he should be put down... ever. He cries and cries when we put him down, so as a consequence he is held most of the time (at the point of this writing, Oliver is 10 weeks old and he continues to feel the same way).

Ollie has a ton of hair which is darling, we thought it might fall out but it hasn't.

Ollie is a LOT lighter than his siblings. The ends of his hair are blonde (which is insane), and his eyes appear to be changing to blue! (at the time of this writing, Oliver is 10 weeks old and has navy blue eyes). His skin is really pale in comparison. We also found out Ollie has O- blood, the other kids have O+, we are waiting to see if he's a lefty!

Oliver is the first child that was formula fed and it was a HARD first month. It turns out that Oliver has some issues tolerating milk proteins so the first formulas we used caused him to have constant explosive diarrhea. That was... unpleasant. After some middle of the night googling (which clearly is always the best time to search for health related issues), I discovered his explosive and constant strange colored diarrhea was either his liver failing or a milk allergy. We decided to explore the milk allergy first because that seemed more likely seeing as less than 1% of babies had the liver failure issue. It turns out that when Ollie uses the right formula he does great. So farewell bleeding bum rash caused by the constant pooping, and farewell diarrhea (thank goodness!). Once he switched formulas, he slept so much better, cried less, and went through a lot fewer diapers. It didn't help him not want to be held, but he's adorable so we will keep him.

Oliver LOVES the baby pack. He goes to sleep right away when he is put in it. He does not love the stroller or the carseat. Actually he hates them both. Riding in the car with Oliver is not a treat, and one of the older kids is always the designated "Ollie Minder". They have to rush to put the pacifier back in. Having older kids has it's perks.

Ollie loves outside. He doesn't mind if it is cold and windy, I think he thinks the colder the better. He likes to go on walks in his pack (which keeps him very warm). He hates being hot, hates it. He doesn't like pants or socks, and will cry until both are removed.

Ollie loves Grammy the most. She is the baby whisperer. He gets so happy when he sees her. She has an instant calming effect on him. Not sure how she does it but she does!

The other kids are adjusting to having a little around. The boys think he's great, Grace has spent a lot of time screaming about... everything lately.

Ollie will not nap unless someone is holding him.

He's started to smile a little bit, which is the absolute cutest thing.

Ollie goes everywhere in the pack.
Just another one of the guys. He loves hanging out with all the kids and has some serious FOMO.

Grandma Denny gave this shirt to Zach. I love seeing him in his brothers' hand me downs.

Ollie is the first child that got newborn photos. Due to a couple of issues, these were actually taken November 16 and not a week after he was born, but he still looks pretty tiny.

Ollie attended class with me as I finished out the semester on zoom. He was also a great office mate as I finished teaching this semester.
He can never ever be put down.

Skinny baby legs!
