An 80 mile trip to the pumpkin patch... 3 minutes from our house

We decided we wanted to take our boys to a super fun pumpkin patch the other day. We had originally planned to drive up to Dallas and go to the Arboretum pumpkin village before our passes expired but then decided that might not actually be as much fun as we thought. So we found a pumpkin patch here in the Austin area. It was about 40 miles from our house in the country, we looked up the hours, the prices, and directions and headed out. Brian even got off work early so we could go. So we start driving and 20 minutes in Michael starts to get anxious, by the time we get there he is really really excited and then... we found out that they are closed on Wednesdays... and it was Wednesday. So that was a fail. There was quite a bit of screaming, and honestly I don't blame him, so we had to regroup. We stopped at McDonalds (when in doubt order fake chicken) got as many chicken nuggets as Michael wanted and a shake and headed to Toys'R'Us to look at bikes. After  Toys'R'Us we really had to fulfill the promise of a pumpkin patch (where we let him get whatever pumpkin he wanted). so we headed to the YMCA which is... 3 minutes from our house. The YMCA has a little pumpkin patch on the soccer field and Michael really wants to check it out every time he goes to practice. So we walked around, he collected all the tiny pumpkins, and then found the perfect "gigantic" pumpkin. We loaded it in the wagons they had (he was most excited about this), paid, and carted it off to the car. I think all in all he had a great time and probably would have been perfectly fine if we had skipped trying to go to the cool pumpkin patch and settled for the Y in the first place.

Merry Christmas!

We are planning on having a very exciting Christmas at our house this year. We are super excited to announce (to all three people that read this that have already been told) that we are expecting another baby! Yay, the due date is December 22nd, so it is possible that we will actually have a very exciting Christmas, though in all honesty I am hoping for something more around the 16th than 25th.  We had an ultrasound today, and a few things. First off, I think this kid is going to give his/her older brother a run for his money. The ultrasound tech told us this was the most active baby she had ever seen, my response was pretty much, well you should have seen Michael 2 years ago. The baby is healthy, but... crazy. She had such a hard time taking measurements with all the flipping, flailing, and somersaulting. Baby Zach is Here!

Baby Zach is here! Zachary Henry December 16, 2013 8:41am 6lbs 14oz 20.5 inches Sweet guy, he seems so tiny compared to Michael, and so so tiny compared to how big Michael is now. I think he looks a little bit like Michael, especially his mouth. He has less hair and his eyelashes are lighter, but he is still adorable. I know he has the newborn grey eyes for now, but they look lighter than the pictures of Michael at the same age. I am curious to see what he ends up looking like in a few weeks! The three boys. I can't believe we have two boys! We have to have one token labor picture. And as there is only one this is the one that gets posted. More on the labor later, but let's just say I wasn't loving life at this moment, waiting for the doctor to arrive was the longest half hour of my life, but we made it so yay!  So these are out of order, but this is Zach right after he was born. Genius Idea

So I have this idea, I think it is brilliant, and I am really hoping someone reads this and 1. tells me someone has already done it and where I can access it, or 2. someone steals my idea and does it close enough to me that again I can access it. Ok so here is the idea, first let me describe the situation. You are a parent with small children and it is a cold/hot/rainy/snowy/windy day/, someone is contagious/your kid fell asleep in the car/your kids are having a meltdown and taking them out of the car and struggling with the 5 point harness might kill both of you and you need milk from the grocery store. Normally you would try and get it at a better time, send a spouse, live without, etc, but you can't because you need milk (or bread or eggs, pick an essential item), so you have an internal debate... am I going to risk it, am I going to pull them out of the car, run in, find the item, wait in line, and come back and struggle to get everyone back in or are we going to live without...
