Summer Photo Dump

Clearly I have been slacking on this blog lately, actually slacking on a lot of things, but as few people get to see my laundry room no one really knows that. Anyway so here goes, trying to catch up, because someday I will want to know what we were up to.

July (and August) have been the months of the Island of Sodor. We play island of sodor every day, the friends from Island of Sodor visit us... at every meal, bathtime, in the pool, in bed. This is just a typical morning, we have Jeremy the Jet Plane (though not the actual Jeremy, we have to pretend), Thomas and several freight cars aka cars from an IKEA train, Percy and a mail car, James and James frieght car aka tender, and Harold the Helicopter. And yes they must all join us... all the time. We have recently added Duck (another train) and three "squishy" trains he kidnapped from Nannie's house... getting him to the table these days is quite the process.
 A bit better view.
Mikey got a bike for his birthday and he is scared of it, but somehow when he is dressed up like a fish things are great and he can ride and turn, but only when he is dressed like a fish.
As mentioned we play Island of Sodor quite a bit, CJ even gets into it, but Mikey HATES it when she or anyone else touches the track.
So the child labor at our house has started. He is a great silverware sorter, and good news, he thinks it is fun.
for some reason mikey has been really attached lately. The night before we left for Utah I had a lot to do so i carted him around in the pack n play. He fell asleep around 11 but the screaming stopped, which is what I wanted at that point. Sadly, while we were in Utah he discovered he could easily get himself out of the pack n play... not so good.

He got a bike for his birthday, and Poppy helped him ride the first time. He is learning to like the bike but i think we have a ways to go yet.
He loved to snuggle with Auntie Em. Basically he just loves Auntie Em
Went to firehouse subs with Grammy, Poppy, and Em, it was good, but the best part (cause it was a sandwich shop, outside of sal, kris, and charlie sandwich king of astoria how impressed can you be?) were the hats, mikey was pretty excited that they had lots of hats.
We went to dinner in frisco one night and right by the restaurant was this...a Thomas. Ok it wasnt Thomas but Mikey sure thought it was grand and he called it Thomas.

He really liked touching Thomas, and throwing rocks at Thomas, and saying Thomas. This might have been more fun if there had been fewer bugs and if it were 10 degrees cooler.

Thomas was huge, not sure how big steam trains were if this is a tiny one or not but it seemed big.

The order of photos is off, but anyway. We were lucky to have Auntie Em here a few extra days in July, and we played water balloons one of the days. Mikey was sick so we couldnt swim and we needed a water activity. We later found out that he actually just cant drink milk and now he is much better, not sure if he was still in the milk issue phase or if it as actual sickness (since several of us were sick), but anyway.
This kid can go through 50 water balloons in about 2 minutes, so it didnt last long but for the 120 seconds it did last he was thrilled.

Mikey realized how fun Sonic could be this summer. Texas is filled with Sonic so he is in heaven. We went with Auntie Em one night for 1/2 price shakes and sundaes.

Mikey discovered that he phone can take pictures, and that it can take funny pictures. he decided he liked it.

He likes to have the camera face him, not sure he realizes we are taking a photo or thinks we are watching a show of ourselves.

He started to build with blocks, and he is pretty good, i am biased, but really i think he is good.

The island of sodor. So some parents are nice and buy all the thomas pieces, me i am cheap and grew up having to "imagine" some things so I am forcing mikey to do that too (he does have a ton of toys and who knows i might give in but for now we are building). So we build the steam works, the docks, and the search and rescue center on the island of sodor. We have since gotten more tracks and i see more blocks in our future so we can build more tunnels, buildings, and the logging station.
See Island of Sodor, pretty much starts as soon as I change his diaper first thing in the morning.

Sandbox is still a hit, but a bit less fun as it has been so HOT.

We tried shaving cream and diggers, he was nervous at first but warmed up and had a blast. Note to self, use less shaving cream next time!

He loves to go to restaurants, not sure why but he does. He doesnt eat, but he loves to go.
