Brian turns 30!
Brian turned 30 yesterday. I can't believe it, at the risk of making him sound old, I have to say I can't believe it. I clearly remember his 22nd birthday (the year we were engaged) and his 25th birthday (the year he graduated), all the others have kinda faded in to the background, but those I remember, and to think they were so long ago!
Usually on Brian's birthday we have filet mignons (buy them at costco and cook them ourselves). This year we took a different path. Ok to be honest with you when we were discussing how we would celebrate i had to ask myself more than once if it was Brian's 30th birthday or Michael's 3rd, but that's what he said he wanted to do so we did it. We will have to celebrate again in a few weeks when everyone comes for Zach's blessing, but in the meantime, this is what we did.
In the morning we had scrambled eggs (Brian cooked them, that's what happens when you get old) and then we went to look at houses. We are currently renting and are hoping to buy within the next year (please sell other house, just a few days left until we close, please please close!). We decided that a big 2 story house is fun, but not entirely practical given the ages of our kids (Michael refuses to play upstairs without us, so it kinda negates the need or the fun of the upstairs playroom), so we are looking for a more practical and smaller one story, we went to see a few pulte homes, and now have an idea of what we are looking for. So there was that. Then we went up to another pulte community so Brian could meet the sales guy and take a look around (Brian works for pulte and hadn't met most of the field guys yet so he wanted to get in a couple). Then we went to costco where we bought chicken, cheese, and strawberries, and had lunch in the food court- exciting times. We came home and one of our children napped (guess which) and then we had the big celebration- family movie pizza picnic! We rented Despicable Me 2, ordered a meat lovers stuffed crust pizza (it was a birthday celebration), got a cupcake from HEB, and watched a movie together as a family. Then Brian, Michael, and Zach "camped" out in the tent upstairs and we went to bed by 10. Happy 30th Birthday Brian!
Oh and his present, well he picked out some dress pants a few weeks ago, but Michael and I got hims box of crayola crayons, a 96 count actually, and it was his first ever! He had mentioned he had never had one so we had to rectify that. What was his first sentence after receiving the gift and opening the box "wow we need to organize these better!". So he and michael organized the crayons (cause that is part of the fun of a 96 box) and now he can say he's had one. I'm pretty sure this is actually going to be Michael's first box but whatever.
