9 Months!

perfect zach face. he is clearly up to something.

Zach is 9 months. We went to the doctor for his appointment today and while he is still... a giant, he isn't as big as I thought he was, and he isn't as big as Michael was (Mikey's Stats)

Height: 30 inches (95th percentile)

Weight: 22lbs, 15oz (90th percentile)

Head: 42 cm

Can I just say that I love that I recorded these measurements on my blog(s), I would have never been able to compare the boys stats without it. You can as Brian, I am the worst at keeping papers, especially important ones.

So what can I say about this little Zacho? Well here's a few things:

-He is fast. No really he is fast. One minute he is there and the next he is getting into EVERYTHING. The pediatrician asked today if he was starting to crawl, I had to laugh. He is crawling everywhere.

-He's learning about gravity. He loves to throw things down, especially off his high chair and down the stairs...

-He sits up. He makes this look so easy.

-He is pulling up to kneeling and then cursing along. I would imagine he will be pulling up to standing any day but he seems to be a bit apprehensive about getting knocked down... I can't imagine why...

-Zach is persistent. Sometimes Michael looks for the path of least resistant and does that even if it is actually more difficult, but Zachary... well Zachary is determined, he does not give up he keeps on pushing and trying. This is especially true when it comes to cords. I don't know what it is about this kid and cords but he LOVES them.

-He is sneaky. When he thinks you aren't looking he sneaks off to "forbidden" areas like the bathroom or my room. This kid has to be watched constantly.

-He tried the sandbox and it turns out he loves it (shocker).

-He has 2 teeth!

-He loves food. He will NOT eat baby food. I don't think he would try it even if you pinned him down and preyed his mouth open (which is probably the only way you could actually get some in). He will however try anything you offer him. I think his favorite foods right now are broccoli (he LOVES it), any kind of fruit, and meat (chicken, beef, pork, doesn't matter this kid likes it).

-He likes to feed himself. This leads to some really messy meals, but it is kinda nice that he at least wants to try.

- No drinks are safe from him. If you take a drink he does whatever to get your attention until he gets some. He prefers a water bottle but will use a sippy cup (baby, big kid, whatever). He's pretty good at drinking from a big cup. He uses bath toys to help himself to drinks in the bathtub, and when cups or containers are not available he just leans over and helps himself (delightful I know).

-He loves ALL electronic devices. He loves to see himself on the phone, video chat, and grab the computer.

-He loves the musical bus and lucky for him he has a brother who can push him. he loves the slide in the playroom, and to ride his brother's scooter.

-He is mischievous. When you tell him not to go somewhere he looks at you, smiles, laughs, and speeds up.

This is how he prefers to sleep. Partially wrapped up, with his pacifier, something on each side of his face. he is not the poster child for safe sleeping.

Michael thinks they should match. You can't really tell from the picture but they do.

-He loves baths. Anytime you take off his clothes he kicks like crazy, and when you take him into the bathroom he flips out with excitement. He isn't too happy when baths end....

-He has discovered CJ. Poor cat, he's a little braver than Michael and seems determined to touch her.

-He puts himself to sleep. Love this about him... it's great except at church because he can't be left alone to work it out.

-He continues to use anything he can to smother himself at night. Nothing available? He will use his hands. This kid is strange about that.

-He makes lots of sounds. His babbling has reached new levels... especially during church.

-He loves to spit, like that motorboat sound, he loves to do this, especially when his brother is whining.

-He loves his brother (and he dad). he has had a little bit of hard time with Mikey away at preschool. He mostly cries in the car when we leave him and when we go to get him. I think he's lonely back there.

-He can recognize him name and turns when you call him.

-He likes to wrestle with Mikey. For the most part he is really cooperative about being lifted up and manhandled (poor baby). He likes to play "tag", chase Mikey and CJ, and any sort of peekaboo. When I get him dressed he always takes his pants and puts them over his face and peeks out until you say "Where's Zach?" at which point he pulls whatever off his face and laughs.

-He can be "called" by flicking the doorstop (you know the metal one). Mikey runs around the house doing this.

-He sleeps from 7:30pm until 6am, eats, and wakes up again at 8am... love, love, love.

- He has such a sweet smile and laugh. When he gets bored in church he just smiles at the people around us until they pay attention to him and then he puts on a show.

-He thinks dinnertime is from 5 until 630. He likes to eat all during prep (of course snatches of food are best before they go into whatever I'm making).

-for the most part he is just so mellow and happy, he is trying to make up for the rest of us being so high strung.

-He loves to growl. It is hilarious. He especially likes to do this with the soft soccer balls from Grandpa Randy and Grandma Mary, he likes it so much he has kidnapped one for his bed.

We love our sweet crazy Zach.
