A Trip to the San Diego Zoo
While we were in CA we took a trip to the San Diego Zoo. I was on the fence at first, the zoo is expensive! No really it is like you are personally sponsoring an animal and selling your child to get in. But really how often do you have the chance to see panda, cheetahs, and gorillas up close, and far as zoos go- well San Diego is the best. Plus Michael is currently OBSESSED with animals. So we went. It was worth the $85 it cost for 2 (Zach was free) of us to go. It was a beautiful day and we were determined to see it all. So we set off early, brought lunch, snacks, a stroller, and a baby carrier and went to see the animals.
Michael loved all the statues in the zoo.
I remember climbing on similar statues, oh the nostalgia.Zach was kind enough to sit in the baby carrier.
The first thing Michael wanted to do was eat lunch. We didn't even find a picnic table, we just found a bench and watched the gorillas while we ate.
Michael loved the map and he and Grammy directed us around the whole zoo. Turns out he didn't get his navigation skills from me.
We saw two of the three pandas on the west coast.
At one point Michael decided he didn't want to walk...
So we trekked up hills with two kids. Totally got a workout in that day (if you know that was a thing for me).
We went on the gondola ride. He was a little nervous, but thrilled to see everything from above.
Zachary had no fear, mostly because he's zach and he loves danger.
but he liked the ride back.
He was thrilled to see the Lions, polar bears, cheetahs (with their dog friends), elephants, and giraffes. Zach's favorite by far were the elephants.
Oh and the goats, zach loved the goats and kept trying to ride them.
Michael tried to feed them, turns out they weren't hungry.
