Snowpocalypse 2017!

Once upon a time it snowed in Central Texas in December. It doesn't snow very often down here in Central Texas. Kids talk about getting snow for christmas and grown ups smile and nod. Zach had been telling me for weeks how much he wanted Christmas snow, and I assured him that we would not be getting any snow for Christmas.

Then one day it was cold and rainy... and then it was snowing. To be honest the flakes were really small, like sprinkles, but I was stoked. I ran to get Zach to see the snow. He didn't love it.
But he did love that Michael had been on the bus and missed the snow. Yep, that is how long the snow lasted and how much stuck... unless you'd seen it, you wouldn't believe it had happened.

And then a few hours later things took a turn. The rain turned to fat snowflakes, like the kind that you can catch with your tongue.
The kids ran out to see it, clearly they weren't prepared for the weather, but they were excited!

After a few minutes they decided it was too cold and came back in to play. We didn't think anything would stick.

This was Grace's first actual experience with snow, her face is priceless.

But it kept snowing, not sticking, but still snowing.

We ate dinner, and then went to something at Michael's school, and we we came back this is what we saw.

Michael made an actual snow angel. People were out all over the neighborhood marveling that it was SNOWING and sticking!
The boys had a snowball fight, jumped on the snowy trampoline, and made a few more snow angels.

The next morning we woke up to snowy rooftops!
It's hard to see but all the rooftops in our neighborhood had a light dusting of snow on them.
The kids were THRILLED! It snowed again on New Year's eve, but there was less snow and more ice, and instead of being 38 it was 20... so they enjoyed it much less.
