Christmas Day Part 1
The boys were so excited for Christmas morning, I have a video I will post later. We made Michael wait for Zach, he wasnt pleased but he got over it pretty quick. I should say that about 2 weeks ago while walking through Target Michael found some light sabers. He is really (really really really really) into Star Wars right now so he was THRILLED. They were from the Target dollar section and they light up and make sound. In all honesty they were pretty cool (ok they are pretty cool). I told him he had to wait until Christmas to get them. He knew they would be with his stocking, so when Christmas rolled around he was almost shaking with the anticipation of finally getting to play with the light sabers.
Coming down into the family room.
He didn't care about anything else just the light sabers (or light savers as he calls them). There was one for Michael (blue), Zach (green) and Brian (red).
They immediately started playing and all other presents were forgotten.
Since Zach slept in until almost 8, breakfast was almost done by the time they arrived. We encouraged them to open their stockings before breakfast but they were less interested now that they had the most exciting present- the light sabers.
They each got some Gatorade. Every time we pass Gatorade at the store Michael begs to buy it, not sure the appeal but they were pretty excited.
He also got some Star Wars toothpaste, a Star Wars toothbrush, and some flossers- yep stockings are dental hygiene related here. Ok I did realize that the stockings did seem to have a hygiene theme, they got bath stuff and toothbrushes... yay! They were happy.
Then we paused presents because all they really wanted to do was play with their light sabers.
They also got mangos, some kids get oranges, these ones get mangoes
Star Wars toothbrush!
We had breakfast pizza. For the last 10 years we've had the traditional Suker family breakfast pizza on Christmas morning, but earlier we found a recipe for a slightly different breakfast pizza that we love. We usually have it for dinner but we decided to have to for Christmas. While the Suker pizza is great, I think this may be our new tradition- the sweet salty pizza is just great.
Zach decided to jump off the largest box he could find which resulted in it opening at bit, we decided for safety reasons it might better to open the gift and ditch the box. Coincidentally it was a present for Zach
Everyone helped unwrap it.
And I used a lot of tape to keep it shut so scissors were a must- Zach kept screaming "I need my green scissors!"
It was a... plasma car. Michael got one last year and loved it and Zach has been dying for his own (or just a turn on Michael's) since then. He was off and running in a jiffy. Since receiving the present he has been very possessive of it- if anyone tries to ride it he scream "my plasma car, you not ride it, only ZACHY!!!". So yes his opinions are well known.
He packed up his entourage and rode around the house.
Michael finally got the imaginext helicopter he has been talking about since he tried to steal it from his cousin this summer. He was initially really excited but the exciment has been overshadowed by his love for the light saber he picked out for himself. So... until then the Santa present is just chilling (Zach loves it).
I got this awesome gift from my parents (hence the creepy smile)- Nalley's Chili. This is hands down the best canned chili- why you might ask? It does not contain bell peppers in any form and the ratio of beans to meat is amazing. Sadly, you cannot buy this in Texas, I was actually really really excited and don't plan to share it with anyone.
We paused presents for a good long while so the boys could play plasma cars.
Eventually we came back and opened a few books, but then Zach got tired so we read some upstairs in his bed.
Zach got a bucket for the sandbox, he immediately wanted to go out and use it. Oh and my cute neighbor made them these adorable hats.
Uncle Michael (Michael Michael) enjoyed reading it too.
We paused presents for a nature adventure walk, lunch, naps, and then finally christmas dinner. We resumed around 6pm. Yep, that's how much they enjoyed playing with the presents. More photos to come including the Nature Adventure Science kits (aka presents for the coolest kids around).
We decided to make a southern dinner. And took very few appetizing pictures so imagine, it actually was great. We made brisket (in the oven), creamed corn, and jalapeƱo creamed corn (my favorite part), loaded ranch potatoes, and a green salad.
With peach and cherry cobblers for dessert.
