Easter Weekend
My mom came to visit for Easter weekend. It was great (as usual) to have her.
We spent her first day doing our normal stuff: storytime, playgroup, and of course tacos. Mikey was in heaven that Grammy was with him. And shocking (well not shocking given what she does) Grammy knew all the songs and fit right in.
Mikey didnt want anyone else near him while Grammy was around, and he couldnt handle her leaving the room, crummy for her but great for me.
Grammy helped with the shakey egg song.
After storytime we headed to playgroup for an easter egg hunt. As with was Michael's first go round he wasnt sure what was going on but let's just say he caught on to what was happening real quick. He was significantly more interested in finding the eggs than eating the candy until... he found out there were Reese's inside, he loved those.
The next day we headed to Waxahachie to visit my grandparents and cousins. He loved my aunts house, there are tons of kids and tons of toys, we had to drag him away. I think he would still be playing in the car in their backyard if we let him.
On Friday night Brian and I went out with some friends and my mom watched all the kids (thanks mom!) We set up a tent for one of our friends' kids and Michael loved it! He used to be frightened of it, but now he loves it.
We went out to dinner sans children to a play called the "Flying Fish". It was our second time, I liked it, the fried catfish is great- sub the fries for grilled squash, it is great.
See delightful
We stayed in Dallas for the night, ok Richardson, and we had a lovely view of 75 from our hotel room, it's Dallas take what you can, right?
We spent the next day looking at houses in Fort Worth. Since we arent moving right away this seems wasted, but hey who knows we might eventually move and the expedition to all the houses will be worth it. I decided that I dont love house hunting, no scratch that, dont even like. I did like spending the day with Brian though.
We had dinner in Downtown Fort Worth- so much more fun than downtown Dallas (which is icky)
Then... well then we had a bit of an adventure. We found a housing development we liked and decided we were going to drive from there to Brian's office to see how long it took but we took a wrong turn. We were pulling up to the stop sign at the freeway entrance (to make a U turn and get back on the right road) when our car died. It just turn off, we turned the key and the radio and lights turned on but the engine wouldnt turn over...
So this was the view we had when things died. We called the insurance to send a tow truck adn there were a few issues... like the guy they tried to send didnt cover the area where we were so they had to find one that would save us. and there was no where to take the car since this happened at 10pm on saturday night. Finally everything worked out, we found somewhere to drip the car (cause it still wouldnt start) and called a friend (thanks scott and nic!) to come rescue us. Luckily my mom was with Mikey and we have friends who were willing to come get us. On Monday morning we found out that the timing belt on the car broke... not good. Luckily (very very luckily) we were coming to a stop when it happened. Luckily we were pulling off the freeway and in a safe place. And luckily my mom was with Mikey and we didnt have him in the car. The mechanic told us if we had been driving we would have been in big trouble, engine ruined etc... Yeah not great. But we lucked out, and $500 the car is running again. So I am going to say that Heavenly Father was looking out for us, because breaking down on 35 wouldnt have been good!
