We have a tradition of buying a new christmas ornament for every family member (that is here for christmas). It's a fun tradition, we scout out the ornaments months in advance and make a big deal of going and buying them. We try and get something that represents our year or something we love, or in Brian's case we try and select the tackiest possible one. So here are the selections for this year (with the exception of Grammy, Poppy, and Uncle Muggle). This is one of our favorite parts of decorating the christmas tree. It is so fun to pull the ornaments out of the box and remember the year that we got them. We have quite a few as we have been doing this for the past 8 christmases, we have the ones Brian and I painted our first year of marriage, all the awful ones Brian has found over the years, the airplanes and trains that Mikey chooses every year, and the growing collection of dessert shaped ornaments.
This year we selected a pan of donuts (emily), an old fashioned steam train (Mikey), a frighting monster sitting on saturn (Brian), cookies and milk (colin), a snowman with an owl hat (ashley) and a creepy alien (zach, but picked out by Brian).
I love these ornaments! I once thought of doing this, but 14 years later and we still haven't started...
