We survived the first week!
We survived the first week of summer! I will admit that I was not enthusiastic about summer, but this first week went better than I thought. We had an activity planned for every (single) morning. My plan was to wear them out and keep them entertained.
We started early Monday morning with 9am touch a truck and the library summer reading program kickoff. My friends has been last year (Grace was about 2 weeks old so we skipped last year) and warned us that it was BUSY. We were prepared, and obviously up and about so we got there at 8:40am. We were one of maybe 5 cars in the parking lot, needless to say we got to touch all the trucks when the even started at 9am.
The boys enjoyed trying out the backhoe (maybe it isn't a backhoe, it's been a long time since Michael made me memorize all the diggers).
As you can see Zach made sound effects while sitting in the vehicles.Michael wanted to show that he wasnt that much smaller than the scoop.
Zach stood next to the tires on every vehicle to measure himself. He was smaller than almost all the tires, but he assures me that next year he will be "big and big and big!". I dont doubt that. They loved this giant police truck (?). They thought we should trade in our minivan for the this... I dont think so.
The firemen extended the truck's ladder. Zach (who had jumped off a ladder the day before) really really wanted to climb "all the way into the sky". Luckily he didn't, but he did try and run off a few times.
This is the car they want instead of our minivan.
Zach was almost as tall as the tires but not quite, he was pretty sad about it.
We also checked out some awesome books! Michael was brave enough to ask the librarian to show him the dinosaur section, and he walked away with some great books about dinosaurs.
We ended the day with tacos. Michael had 4 tacos and Zach had 2... seriously... that's a lot of tacos. We decided that we are dragons, because Dragons love tacos! Grace doesn't love crunchy tacos (mostly because she's never been given the chance to try them), but she loved the befriend beans, we might have to make this a weekly occurrence.Day two kicked off with a trip to HEB, followed by a trip to the park. We made it to the grocery store around 8:17am... as you can tell our days start early. Luckily the store was almost empty because these three were LOUD. Zach woke up extra early the first week of summer which meant by 9am he was a mess.... and by 5pm he was beside himself. We spent 2-3 hours at the park, I am pretty sure Zach and Grace fell asleep on the way home. Keep in mind it was the second day of summer and they are both EXHAUSTED!
Grace was fairly exhausted after the park, as was Zach. He even napped. Michael however wasnt the slightest bit tired and worked in his summer workbook instead.
Day 4 started off good and early. Michael is buried under the pile of pillows. Pretty sure it was was about 720am when this picture was taken.
They discovered that everyone could do the plasma car
We spent 3 hours at the pool on day 4. These kids are going to be so brown by the time summer ends.
Day 5 was also spent at the park (though no pictures were taken). Our GIANT container of Perler beads arrives and we started on our summer creations. Michael was so proud of the first two attempts.
By the end of the week Grace, Zach, and Mom were exhausted. The house was a mess, papers went ungraded, and I seriously considered serving scrambled eggs every night, but we had a blast! Can't wait to see what the second week of summer brings!
