8 months

Typical achy face. 

What can I say about Zachy this month. Well first off he is crazy. No really, he seems sweet and innocent, and he is… but dont let him fool you, he is also a crazy person. Zach is great, no really he is great. I cannot imagine our family without him, he is a perfect addition to our family, don’t know what we would do without him. This was a big month for him. he started cutting his first tooth, gave up baby food entirely (no really he refuses to eat it at all, and will spit it at you if you happen to poke it into his mouth), and he started crawling (the day before he turned 8 months). 

So what can I say about Zach Henry.

NEEDED A DRINK TOO. 

-He loves water. He loves to drink it, he loves to play in it, he just loves water. Today we went to the pool for a playdate and there were some big kids that splashed him quite a bit, did he care, not one teeny tiny bit. He was even a little bit ticked off when their mom made them stop and leave him alone. And as for drinking water, anytime anyone has a drink he thinks he needs it. He moves his arms, yells, he wants the water. If Miichael leaves a cup with water or apple juice within his reach he will find it and he will drink it. He is great at getting the cup or bottle into his mouth and has mostly figured out how to open his water bottle and drink it without assistance from us.

-He will not eat baby food. I felt so guilty for not making him baby food, now I dont. it would have been a huge waste of effort, He would have refused to eat it. He will eat baby yogurt (same as regular yogurt but more fat) and drink squeezee applesauce type things. I’m pretty sure he would have given up the applesauce but his brother eats them so he seems ok with it. He like meat… yes meat, chicken, refried beans, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches (loves peaches, but will not touch baby peaches), loves broccoli (no really LOVES broccoli), will eat mixed greens and spinach, loves avocado, tolerates tomatoes, wants to steal his brother’s low sodium V8, loves peanut butter, homemade mac and cheese, homemade pizza, meatballs, pasta, cheese, really anything that babies shouldn't be eating at this age. So we’ve given up on the baby food. We wont be feeding him honey, but besides that… I think we are going for it. He eats what we eat and it works so far. He refuses to be left out so I’d love to see us try and stop him. 

-He refuses to be left out. He will not let you ditch him, exclude him, or treat him like a little baby. 

-He says “da da” and a few other sounds. They arent associated with specific things yet but trust me they will be soon. 

-He has one tooth! It was a very dramatic week, hopefully the other teeth come in with a bit less trouble.

HEB Car Cart. Look how happy he is. 

-He loves the car carts at HEB, I think going to HEB is the highlight of his week. Along those same lines he also loves the cozy coupe. 

-He’s mobile! He crawsl. he looks like a little wind up toy when he does, but he is fast and he can get what he wants.. He spent the month being so frustrated he couldn't crawl and on the last day he finally got it. Poor kid I felt a little bad. 

sleeping time

-He is serious about sleeping time. Sleeping time is for sleeping and when he misses nap time he is…ticked off. 

-everything goes in his mouth all of the time. 

-he adores dad and brother. He will crawl up to brian and headbutt his leg until he picks him up. and he gets so excited when we see mikey. His arms flap, he yells, he wants to play! He loves to wrestle his brother and is constantly growling at him which is a little bit hilarious.

-along the love water lines, he loves baths. He is trouble in the bath, he is always trying to dunk himself and get a drink. I remember Mikey doing this too but I think he was a little older. Zach will either try and dunk his head or find a cup and serve himself a drink. Seriously! I dont know what to do about this crazy man. 

-When Zach gets ticked off he wants to tell you about it. He will yell until he has your attention and when he is done telling you about it he will stop and be happy. its so funny. 

-people everywhere stop and tell us how cute he is. we agree but it is a bit unnerving. Especially older men, no really guys in the 50’s on up seem to like to stop and chat with him. I can’t figure it out but it happens at the grocery store, at the library, even at church. 

-Mikey and I call him trouble with a capital t and he is trouble… oh so much trouble. 

-he likes to scrunch up his nose when he smiles, its so funny. sometimes he also snorts… which is even more funny and just as cute as you’d imagine. 

Oh sweet zach we love you!

he is the best at finding the doorstops. it is like he is magnetically attracted to them. I think he knows where they are in every room in the house. 

he loves sleeping time. He kidnaps things to have during sleeping time, like this ball. We have tried to keep things away from him, but it turns out he thinks he needs to smother himself to sleep. if you are somewhere and he can't do this (like church) he will freak out until he has something to use. Needless to say he has used my sweater, the nursing cover, and yes even the emergency pants in a crisis. He prefers his puppy.

yes he is using a fork. he loves to kidnap utensils and try and use them and he's getting pretty good. he also kidnaps hair ties.
