Christmas Day
Our company arrived late Christmas Day so we celebrated Christmas morning just the 4 of us.
The boys woke up and came and saw all the fun. Luckily they are young enough that they didn't wake up at the crack of dawn. Since I happen to be one of those kids that woke up before the sun on Christmas morning I am pretty sure my kids will be also, but we enjoyed one of our last few christmases where Christmas morning didn't actually start until well... morning.
Michael took an obligatory photo with me.Brian was shocked by his stocking. He got a jigsaw for Christmas and the blades were in his stocking, sorta ruined the surprise... but he acted thrilled.
He also got a can of his favorite... easy cheese. bacon flavored easy cheese to be exact. Not sure how he can even consider eating this but he can.
Mikey was so confused how the cheese got into the can.
Mikey got some train tracks, he was thrilled. And he got an electric train that fits on the tracks (courtesy of Grandpa Suker and Grandma Mary who mailed it).
He was pretty excited.
Zach got some colors, he was excited and he knew exactly what to do with them.
See excited.
This train track was actually pretty cool, the train runs independently, the rocks drop, it's sweet.
He got this other track too. It folds up. Snazzy. I have to confess, Thomas the Train stuff is a bit pricey but there is a huge resale market. So I started looking for Thomas stuff on craigslist this past summer, in about September we hit the jackpot, ok we were a few hours too late for the jackpot because the wooden trains had been sold, but we ended up with quite the haul. For the price of two wooden Thomas items (things that hook into the tracks or a Cranky) we ended up with tons of metal trains, tracks that fit the metal trains, and a bin of buildings, bridges, and accessories for the wooden tracks. We just had to hope that Mikey still liked Thomas when Christmas rolled around. Luckily he did and he now has some awesome stuff... and we have a bunch left just in case Zach also goes through a Thomas phase or Michael has a birthday. I sorta feel cheap, but mostly I feel like we did a great job.
Santa brought "comfies". Mikey loves comfy pants so he was pretty excited.
Zach really liked his colors.
Santa also brought Mikey a watch. he has been asking for a watch for a few months, he always asks what time it is so Santa brought him one. He doesn't actually want to wear it but when he changes his mind he has one.
He was super excited about the watch.
Opening the train track (don't you love when the pictures are out of order)
We ate breakfast halfway through opening presents.
Zach opening his big santa gift. He was a little bit bored with opening presents but all that changed when he got going on this one...
nothing too exciting
getting closer
almost revealed
not quite there
pulling back the paper
A TUNNEL! He was thrilled when he recognized that the package contained a tunnel. He thinks everything is a tunnel these days.
See thrilled
so excited
He wanted to try it out right away
so we set it up and wouldn't you guess, Mikey also liked it.
Mikey got some books, we had to read them as we opened them.
we played train track
got more books, this time the complete thomas collection, now there's a page turner.
Mikey really liked opening presents, all the presents for everyone.
He got some comfies for the daytime, he was thrilled despite the photo.
