Christmas Eve

Time to get back to blogging. So Christmas Eve. We had visitors for Christmas but they didn't arrive until late Christmas Day so we celebrated Christmas Eve just the 4 of us. I love having everyone here for Christmas but it was nice to have a day to celebrate with just our little family, mostly because that way I didn't feel guilty about all the noise that our kids make, and Christmas and Christmas Eve are not quiet days.

We started out the day making cookies for Santa and some of our new neighbors.
We had Christmas Eve dinner, it was delicious and just a regular dinner, but hey we had it at the new house so that was awesome.

We left treat out for Santa, someone may or may not have forgotten to buy carrots for the reindeer so Mikey had to give broccoli instead. We decided that by the time Santa made it to Austin he was probably pretty sick of milk and would prefer a "fun juice" which he could either drink in the kitchen or take to drink in the sleigh, and the reindeer were probably pretty sick of carrots by that point and would prefer broccoli. We may continue this tradition next year. Oh and Michael didn't want to be in the picture.
Then we had talked about the christmas story, watched the video for "Friendly Beasts" and enjoyed watching Zach learn about gravity while testing the "shatterproof" claim of the nativity (nothing shattered).

Then we opened our Christmas Eve present- new "comfies" for the boys and movie we could watch as a family (Plane Fire and Rescue).

Then we opened a few presents from Grandma Mary and Grandpa Randy, among them a beautiful framed scripture for our house and a harmonica...

 we tried for a photo.

 and then a family photo.

and then we played the harmonica...

and then we watched Planes Fire and Rescue while eating popcorn. it turns out that Zachary LOVES popcorn, he was lunging over everyone to get it, finally we gave in and watching him really closely instead of fighting it.
