Staying in the Picture

 My sister-in-law wrote a darling post about staying in the picture the other day, inspired by this article and it got me thinking, well first looking. First off the premise of both her post and the article is that moms need to be in the family pictures too. They need to step out from behind the camera even if they feel they are a bit soft around the middle, have been too busy to shower, and generally think they look yucky. So I started looking through our photos, there are a TON of photos of Mikey by himself, lots of Mikey and Brian, but just a few of me and Mikey. So this week I have tried to make and effort that when I pull out the camera to try and get in the picture too. This hasnt been super successful, most of the pictures have ended with Mikey crying because we are trying to stop him from doing something dangerous to take a picture (those will be posted later), and some have just had the tops of our heads (not so good at the photography thing in general let alone holding a camera out while trying to keep mikey from getting it), but yesterday I used my computer and we got a few. They arent glamour shots, they havent been edited, the lighting is off, we look like it is 3 in the afternoon, but I agree with the article, someday when Mikey is big and wont talk to me because I am his "lame mom" we will have these photos to look at, and even when he likes me again we will still have the photos to remember what a sweet guy he was. Oh and did I mention these pictures will probably be great entertainment someday, I mean really in 20 years I am sure we will look back and think, "seriously? those were the styles? you spend money to look like that?". I know that my siblings and I have greatly enjoyed the family photos and videos of my parents in the early 90's- you know the big glasses, poofy hair, acid wash jeans, neon- wow those were good days. I can just see it now, "Mom what were you thinking? You're hair used to be brown? Dad had hair?" wow. so this week I am trying to stay in a few pictures, even though I hate photos and it is tough to take them... if only for the entertainment value in 20 years.

Merry Christmas!

We are planning on having a very exciting Christmas at our house this year. We are super excited to announce (to all three people that read this that have already been told) that we are expecting another baby! Yay, the due date is December 22nd, so it is possible that we will actually have a very exciting Christmas, though in all honesty I am hoping for something more around the 16th than 25th.  We had an ultrasound today, and a few things. First off, I think this kid is going to give his/her older brother a run for his money. The ultrasound tech told us this was the most active baby she had ever seen, my response was pretty much, well you should have seen Michael 2 years ago. The baby is healthy, but... crazy. She had such a hard time taking measurements with all the flipping, flailing, and somersaulting. Baby Zach is Here!

Baby Zach is here! Zachary Henry December 16, 2013 8:41am 6lbs 14oz 20.5 inches Sweet guy, he seems so tiny compared to Michael, and so so tiny compared to how big Michael is now. I think he looks a little bit like Michael, especially his mouth. He has less hair and his eyelashes are lighter, but he is still adorable. I know he has the newborn grey eyes for now, but they look lighter than the pictures of Michael at the same age. I am curious to see what he ends up looking like in a few weeks! The three boys. I can't believe we have two boys! We have to have one token labor picture. And as there is only one this is the one that gets posted. More on the labor later, but let's just say I wasn't loving life at this moment, waiting for the doctor to arrive was the longest half hour of my life, but we made it so yay!  So these are out of order, but this is Zach right after he was born. Genius Idea

So I have this idea, I think it is brilliant, and I am really hoping someone reads this and 1. tells me someone has already done it and where I can access it, or 2. someone steals my idea and does it close enough to me that again I can access it. Ok so here is the idea, first let me describe the situation. You are a parent with small children and it is a cold/hot/rainy/snowy/windy day/, someone is contagious/your kid fell asleep in the car/your kids are having a meltdown and taking them out of the car and struggling with the 5 point harness might kill both of you and you need milk from the grocery store. Normally you would try and get it at a better time, send a spouse, live without, etc, but you can't because you need milk (or bread or eggs, pick an essential item), so you have an internal debate... am I going to risk it, am I going to pull them out of the car, run in, find the item, wait in line, and come back and struggle to get everyone back in or are we going to live without...
