First Day of School!
Tuesday was the first day of school! To say that our family was a little bit elated that summer was FINALLY over may be an understatement. Michael was ready to go by 715, on Wednesday he was ready by 720, and today he was ready by 740 and we were at HEB by 8. Yep he is loving school and can barely contain his excitement about going. He was even more excited than last year.
All summer he's been telling me how he didn't want to go to school because he'd "miss us too much". Well I thought we were in for some tears, maybe some hysterics... nope... he walked up to the classroom, looked at me, said "see ya later" and never looked back. Basically, it was time for summer to end. He was ready, I was ready... really ready, and even Zach was ready. Zach has had the toughest time time it, the first day he cried until he fell asleep "Buddy! Home!!!", the second day he was busy but still tearful, and today, he didn't care but was thrilled to see him when it was time to pick him up.
Morning of school. He was thrilled!
Walking up to the school. Look at all those tearful parents. I'm terrible, there were no tears shed, we were all thrilled it was the first day.
This year he decided he wants to be an astronaut and a paleontologist.
Zach was only mildly thrilled to be leaving at this time of day and to be hugged. Zach actually doesnt like to be hugged.
The buddies are starting to look alike!
I think this sums up our feelings on the day. These are genuine smiles from both of us.
He wanted to look at the sign while showing off his cool astronaut skateboarding shirt... this was the result.
This is the weather forecast and one of the many reasons school needed to start. They can only play inside so much. For those thinking 91 is hot, think again. This was a cool afternoon, but the humidity was out of control. Needless to say the boys last about 15 minutes and then are beet read and sweating. So the beginning of school marks the end of terrible weather (or not look at the forecast) but the end of cabin fever!
While Michael was at school Zach and I tackled household chores. We mopped and swept and it stayed clean(ish) for a bit.
Last year Zach thought that school dropoff meant naps. He has caught right back on. He brings PupPup, milk, and a pacifier in the car and immediately requests them after Michael is dropped off. He screams "HOME NIGHT NIGHT!" as soon as his brother is signed in and does NOT like being taken to do errands. Luckily school starts at 9 and we've been ready... well long before 8 so some errands can be done before school.
And on a totally random note, with Michael in school and me not in school for a few more weeks, I finally finished Zach's letters. Yep he's almost 2.
I have never cried, either. It's a happy time! Yay school!
