Poop

I have to write about this because it is just too funny and pretty much explains life at our house since Michael was potty trained in February (can you believe it has been that long, oh it has been blissful). Oh and this story is about poop... so if that offends you please don't read it, or come to my house because apparently this is michael's favorite topic.

Before i tell the story some background is needed (and I sincerely apologize about the story Colin, but well... someday you'll have your own kids and poop won't be even slightly embarrassing, in the meantime, sorry and welcome to the family). My sister is getting married in a little bit over two weeks. Since she started dating her soon to be husband Michael has been skeptical. He refers to her as "his Emmy" and he wasn't thrilled about the prospect of sharing her. In reality he doesn't want to share her with anyone but he has relented and is willing to share her with Zach and no one else. But as the wedding has drawn closer I've been talking to him a lot about how he needs to share his Emmy with Colin (the fiancé) and how someday Emmy and Colin might have their own kids. He wasn't having it.

He said things like he wasn't sharing and that he didn't like Colin and then today we had a breakthrough- this is where the poop comes in. Mikey is 2 and curious about poop. we have told him everybody poops and now he likes to not only ask if you poop but what color it is... yes it's delightful, but we needed him to get excited enough about it to want to use the potty, now we don't know how to break him of his interest.. Yesterday he asked about Colin- this was strange because mostly he has been pretending Colin doesn't exist, but he started asking. Today he asked again and I decided what the hey let's pass on the question, hoping that Colin didn't get offended. So I passed on the question ("Mommy what color is Colin's poop?") Im sure colin was mortified- cause it is quite strange to get that question, but Emily responded. I passed the response on and suddenly Mikey was happy, thrilled even. By dinner he was telling me that he could share "his Emmy" with Colin and that Colin could play with him- this is big, huge. And by bedtime anytime he saw something the color Emily and Colin made up he would inform us that that that was the color of Colin's poop- yes they have bonded over poop. So welcome to the family Colin I hope you enjoy getting the question at your wedding... in front of people because you know it's coming.
